Losing Pounds For Dummies
It has long been believed that extreme exercise is the only way to lose weight. This is a wrong belief. Moderate exercise daily will shed those unwanted pounds.
The average amount most people want to lose when they decide they need to “diet” is about 20 pounds. This is a small goal and can be achieved with simple exercises that usually occur in every day life. This is what is called working out moderately.
People should not grimace at working out. One must first assess their present daily activity to get started in working out moderately. Goals can be set to advance the level or maintain it properly once the person has determined the level of their activity.
A person can work out daily if they work in a building with more than one floor by climbing the stairs once a day. The person can take the stairs instead of riding the elevator. The person will see results from this one simple exercise without strain.
Another example, if there are not stairs around, is taking a walk around the block, or two, after dinner. This moderate exercise does not take long and will bring the person back to their home before their nightly show begins. Walking, jogging or running are the best forms of moderate exercise.
Fun and not at all like exercising are aerobics like swimming, skiing and bicycling. Losing weight is also possible with gardening and cleaning the house. These things can help lose weight because you are bending down, getting up, picking things up and moving around.
Any thing that has the potential to cause a sweat to form on your brow can be considered a moderate exercise. Another form of moderate exercise is simply working out, on a stationary bike or lifting weights, for 10 to 20 minutes a day. As this is actual working out, many people do not consider it in the same line as walking or gardening.
Instead of driving to the store three blocks away for a couple of items, walk to the store. Get a bicycle and every Saturday, ride a mile or two. Adding these moderate exercises to your daily life will not defer from normal activities and the weight will be gone without noticing it.
Set a goal on the calendar for one year. Mark on the year anniversary from today for a loss of 20 pounds. Also mark on the calendar to check your progress periodically throughout the year.
Eating right and exercising will help you reach your goals. Marking the calendar will push you farther than just having the desire to lose the weight. The desire and a little self-control will give you the results wanted.
The key to successful moderate exercise is maintaining the desire to lose the weight. Keeping at it is helped by the knowledge that you are not taking the elevator because you want to lose weight. Becoming a habit of daily life, moderate exercise will continue to help you lose your weight and keep it off.
