Obesity is not just a problem for the USA, it is not just limited to other developed countries either - it is a problem that has spread throughout the globe. With yoga, comes an effective methodology to lose weight and with greater percentage of success.

Yoga is not just a posture based exercise. When practiced regularly and with determination, it can have profound effects on your body. Many individuals from the Orient have shown that daily Yoga can lead to weight loss and a healthy mind.

Power Yoga- lie on your stomach and keep your hands right under your shoulders. Push your upper body backwards using only the back muscles not your hands. In case you find it difficult to ignore the hands, try keeping them over the hips.

Obese individuals need to take some responsibility for our own health. They just eat too much , even the medical experts believe that overeating is perhaps the biggest cause of obesity. Even under-12s can be prescribed anti-obesity drugs - despite the medication only being licensed for adults - if the problem is bad enough.

Some experts recommend the following methods to prevent obesity: * Drinking lots of water every day. This may range anywhere from 8-12 glasses a day * Replace the three large meals with numerous small meals * Substitute water for sugary beverages * Exercise daily

Besides Yoga there are alternative methods of treating obesity. Some of the non conventional methods of avoiding weight gain is the habit of inducing vomiting after each meal, taking laxatives on a regular basis, utilizing colon cleansing methods or enemas, steam baths, mud packs on the body, various types of massage, drinking urine (your own) and so on. While this may not sound so scientific, there are many people who swear that these techniques work- each to his own.
